I'm currently braising seven pounds of $1.99 chuck roast in my new 20-quart heavy-bottom stainless steel glass-lidded stock pot.  I'm doing that instead of going out and partying because I'm sure I would be a terrible party guest right now.  The holidays are always tough when you're single and they're even tougher when all of your friends are married or with somebody and you've just had your heart broken pretty badly.  You don't want to get on their nerves by whining but you don't really enjoy socializing either.  It's usually better than the alternative but there's something to be said for occasionally allowing yourself to just sit down and hurt, as the surviving Righteous Brother said.
