I haven't been diarizing much since I started my new job, mainly because I'm trying to be a good boy and not goof off at work, at least not until I've proved to a new crowd of folks that I can manage my time and complete committed tasks on time like a professional. I never was much on writing from home before, since I can usually think of 99 things more important to do when I'm at home than blather on about my life, and that's just on the computer.
It's going to be even harder now, since I just added another choir to my schedule: Cantare Houston. I'm not sure if I'll be asked back for the full season next year or I'm just filling a spot for their Judas Maccabaeus concert on May 17th/18th. I also have taken a staff singer position at a different church here in town, replacing my Cathedral Choir duties. That's now a total of three paid singing gigs, up from one as of a month ago. My second career is on a roll, for now. My new job is interesting; the days go by pretty quickly. We're planning next month's activities at the moment and it looks like I might be doing more systems engineering things for the immediate future, rather than "real programming", but it's just as important, and the checks are the same. The first deposit happened today, as a matter of fact. Just in time to pay for the new LCD display I'm looking at while typing this. New LCD display wouldn't have been my first choice for celebratory gadgetry. When I build this rig back in 11/06, I got two 19" 4:3 LCDs. One of them crapped out back in December - right after the warranty expired, of course. The second one died Monday night. Things being how they are, I was able to get a new 22" 16:9 display for about the same cost as one of the old ones, and I don't really need two - my new job doesn't allow working from home, so the only time I'll really miss dualhead is when I'm doing financial stuff, and with widescreen I can probably fake it convincingly enough. A bonus is that since my TV is only 26" or so, and 4:3, my computer is probably a nicer place to watch DVDs than my TV, although I probably won't be taking advantage of that without some drastic living room rearrangements. There also no HDMI or other video in, so...maybe I'll get around to getting that 40" Bravia soon. It's my civic duty, you know, to prop up the economy. Of Taiwan. At least I can sit here and watch 1080p movie trailers in full-screen glory.
